Facts about Foxes

Today, I asked the girls about foxes, but instead they talked about wolves. A wolf and a fox are two different species. Wolves are bigger than foxes and hunt big animals in packs, while foxes only prey on small mammals such as mice and rabbits at most. Also, they do not fight in packs although some subspecies are territorial.
So, before I enter into the extreme detail of foxes, they are in the same family as wolves and dogs, but they do have a lot of differences. while we usually saw that wolves howl, foxes give a scream-like bark, a high-pitched scream, that sounds less than a dog's bark and more of a human shriek, which is weird. Gekkering is a quieter sound they do while they are in their territorial struggles, but it can get loud, and it  could be the cutest thing they have said.
Facts aside, there is this funny song I saw lately, which is becoming viral. It is a song regarding the foxes. Enjoy, girls!

Happy Birthday Google

Today marks Google's fifteenth year. Happy birthday Google! They are celebrating it by having the piñata mini-game at their search page. What do you use Google search for? I believe searching it for dictionaries or encyclopedias is a good use for Google. Do you ever feel you want to know new vocabulary everyday, girls?

Today's Motivation

Motivation should be daily, should be from inside and should be effective. This picture is of my number one deformed doll I have from the Mario series. Now students try to stop surfing the internet for now and study a little!

Better Hangman Game

Honestly this is one of the best hangman games I have found, and I liked to share it with my students who have extra time and are willing to test easy vocabulary. The best thing I found about this game is that it categorizes the vocabulary and even has sorting for beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.
Don't forget to study hard girls. The exam will not be so easy, but I have faith in you all.

Exams Next Week Girls!

Returning to the old book is not a bad thing. It will just be repeating the old syllabus, which will be easy for my students to follow. So let's face the studying with enthusiasm, especially that next week is the exams for all the subjects.
Since the exams are in the old syllabus which we haven't had much lessons to focus on, I bought today a worksheet for self studying at home. Study well girls and do your best in the exams! I have high hopes for you all in English

Extra Work for Weekend

Today I bought another grammar worksheet for the weekend. There is some vague literature and vocabulary, but it shouldn't be a problem for my ambitious students.

Wake Me Up When September Ends

Today I would like to share a song that touched my heart.

This song was sung by Billie Joe Armstrong as a tribute to his late father in 2005, although his father's death was when he was ten years old at 1982. He recorded his first song when he was five years old, and his father was also a musician.
What really impressed me was the love for his parents and always keeping his father on his mind all these years. I felt the real emotion from his words; it was clear from his voice that he was not faking up the sadness implied in the song.

New Books!

I just recieved the new books for our curriculum this year. After some quick planning, it seems that these bookss are much clearer than the ones we had before. Take a look:

Aim High is a 5 level book for learning English. In the official Oxford website, it mentions that this book is great for self-study as well. The official website also mentions online practice from the workbook CD, but we do not have that in our KSA version of the books. There is, however, the Audio CD in the student book, which we will listen to during the lessons.

My opinion on the Aim High book after a little while of lesson planning is that the lesson is rich. It has a lot to cover and also has a list of good vocabulary. Although it does seem packed with a lot, don't worry students! Each lesson is well organized and I feel that the themes of the units are great for building up knowledge on one topic. All in all, I feel that the stated objectives will be met at the end of the lesson with this book, and I look forward to finishing the entire book this year students! Keep Learning English!

Don't mix up the Past Tense

Today I noticed that my students have mixed up in the past tense and present tense of some verbs. These verbs are irregular so their past tense does not end with -ed, and if you are having trouble remembering their simple past tense, it is best to memorize them through traditional pen and paper.

I found a good video that also shows their pronunciation , so you can remember the correct spelling upon hearing the verb.
