Know Your Words - Fun Games in Vacation

Good resources for learning, or reinforcing, English language while not spending much time each day can be very hard to salvage on the internet, especially in vacation. Which is why today I brought to you a fun game for opposite words. It is very easy, and shouldn't take time. Good luck!

Congratulations!

Hello, girls, and congratulations for the vacation. I hope you are all enjoying it, as I am very pleased with the projects which you have sent me. I hope that, despite it being your right to celebrate, that you practice on the grammar of complete sentences in the present tense, because the next unit requires full concentration.

Pronouns: Subject, Object, and Possessive

Yesterday was an important lesson, so I decided to give you a quiz on them, and a quick summary of the pronouns that you need to memorize. I'm pretty sure that I wrote it on the board, but I was certain that not all of the girls have copied it.

Trivia quiz suggested by Geniusteacher from Quizz.biz

Make sure that you have a lot of practice as this will be the basis of the next lesson. If you got 100% on my quiz above, remember that I didn't include all the pronouns. Study hard girls!

Nelson's love

Today, I was talking in the class about Nelson Mandela, and I mentioned how much Nelson cared about the world and about others, sacrificing his youth for the sake of his people. It was then that I mentioned one of his quotes about loving each other:
The girls didn't know much about him except that he is a hero. Nevertheless, they were inspired by this quote specifically. If we were all equal to each other, the world would be a better place.

Nelson's Quotes

These are some of the best quotes I found about Nelson Mandela over the internet. Some quotes won't always be shown, but he has a strong political opinion. One picture is a poster for his birthday. It's quite sad, really, that he died.

Nelson's Quotes

Nelson's Quotes
Nelson is an inspirational man, so of course he has inspirational quotes. Both these quotes below are ones that I'd like to give to my students, to remember why we learn, why we should be motivated, and one of the main reasons why we should all be better people, and generally stop our muffled racism, because each small suppressed hatred and act of discrimination that we do has built up before and caused the sorrow of South Africa's citizens. Always put yourself in the other person's shoes, as we all do learn from history and try not to repeat mankind's mistakes again, if we are to thrive in the future.

In Remembrance of Nelson Mandela

In Remembrance of Nelson Mandela

Nelson was a hero to the whole world, and he taught all of us a big lesson in determination, freedom, and equality. I am very inspired by him as an example of diligent fighting, yet he did not want the power of being president, and after losing 27 years of his life, he didn’t revenge them in the 5 years that he got back. This is proof for wisdom and serenity, which is what makes him a hero for the whole world.

“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.” — Nelson Mandela

Change Log

Dear all students, teachers, and readers,

I've made changes to the blog. As of now I will be working on an English course in a college that is for beginners, hence anything for my students will be on the Beginner Course Blog. Most of the new content will be there, especially the funny moments in class will be here as well.

However, I will not abandon the content that I was planning to post for those teaching a syllabus similar to the high school I was teaching in. Hence, there will still be content uploaded there. Such content can include:
  • Worksheets
  • Inspiration
  • Helpful grammar tips
  • Tips for teachers

So always stay tuned for updated content! The homepage shows the new content, regardless of which blog it's on.

Inspiration for Today

Learning in general is crucial, but learning the language is even more important. It describes how we express ourselves. I make sure that there is always new vocabulary to learn throughout the day. It is favorable to have a thesaurus or look up words daily on the internet or dictionary. Rich vocabulary is vital.
